I intended to read just "The Hobbit". But, once started I had to continue the journey. My books are worn and the pages are starting to yellow. I bought this set in 1978; I wonder how many times I've read and reread them? The tale is always as fresh as ever. My favorite characters always ready to meet me again - Tom Bombadill and Goldberry, Beorn, the Nine Companions, Galadriel, Treebeard. The magic of the Elves and the thrill of the battles - it's all still there.
